Spencer Update and Big News

It really is true (and so sad) that the first child has so many photos of them as a little baby and the next gets so few. I am always busy that taking pictures of Spencer is never on my mind. I need to be better.

Well...the perfect little newborn is not so perfect anymore. He is not quite the fusser that Aliyah was (thank goodness!!!) but he won't just sit and look around anymore. If he is awake, he likes to be held all the time, and he is always awake and fussy from about 8pm (of course as soon as Aliyah goes to bed and we think we will have a little peace and relaxation, he decides its time to be difficult) until about 11pm-1am. I hear that this evening fussiness and late bedtime is very typical of newborns...so I think he is just the average baby...not the easy baby that I thought he might be.

I still love him, though. I love being able to just enjoy him being a baby, whereas with Aliyah, she was always so frustrating that I just couldn't wait for her to grow up and get easier (I am still waiting! :) )

The big news is that Spencer rolled over from tummy to back for the first time on Sunday (Sept 27) at 3 1/2 weeks old!!! It wasn't a fluke. He did it 5 times in a roll and then did it again this morning. He is a very strong little guy. Almost from the day he was born he has been really good with holding up his head. It is still just a little wobbly, but he does really well with that.

I will try to be better with getting and posting more pics!

Blessing Day

Today was Spencer's blessing day at church. It was wonderful to have so much family be able to come for this. He looked so handsome in his little outfit.

More of Spencer

Spencer is doing great! He is 2 weeks today. We went to his 2 week appointment and he is now 10 lbs and 4 oz and 21 3/4 in long. He is in the 90th percentile for both weight and height. He is definately a big boy. (As a sidenote--Aliyah had her 3 year appointment too and had to get two shots. She has been crying ever since and wanting Bill to carry her everywhere. I think we have a bit of a drama queen on our hands!)

He is such a good little baby. Almost too good sometimes! After having Aliyah, the fussiest little baby I have ever known, he seems just too mellow. He sleeps so much and when he is awake for those few hours a day, he just looks around and hangs out. He is doing great at night going about 4-6 hours between feedings. One night he almost went 7 hours!!! We love him so much. With Aliyah still being a bit of a difficult child, it is so nice to have a mellow one (well, at least so far...who knows what the future brings!)

There is not much else to tell. We are all doing well. Bill gets 3 weeks of paternity leave--I am so very lucky. Although Spencer is easy, Aliyah still takes a lot of time and energy to deal with so he has really been a life saver as I have recovered and am getting used to having two kids. Hopefully I stay sane after he goes back to work. :)

Aliyah's 3rd Birthday

With Spencer being born on the 1st and Aliyah's birthday being on the 10th, I kindof forgot about it. We had got her a present a month or so ago that was just sitting in the closet, but I forgot to start planning a little party for her until 2 days before. So Bill and I pullled together a quick party for her, just inviting over a few of her friends to play in the water and have cupcakes and presents. I think she had a great time. She had been very excited about her birthday for a long time...always asking if today was her birthday. (The first picture is of her helping make the goody bags for her friends--she thought it was so fun to give presents to her friends!)

Spencer is Here!!!

Spencer was born on Sept. 1 at 11:01pm. He was 9 lbs 9 oz and 21 1/2 in long. He was perfectly healthy and the delivery went smoothly. We are home now and enjoying our sweet little baby boy.

I will post more when I have a bit more time.
