Vacations

We have gone on a few trips recently. In May, Bill and I left the kids with my mom (with the help of my sister and friend) and went to St. George to see Bill's grandma, to Zions Park in Utah, and then to the Grand Canyon. It was so great to just be the two of us. Zions was soooo beautiful. We didn't do any of the major hikes, but we did a bunch of the shorter trails and we had the best time. The weather was PERFECT! If anything a little on the chilly side, but we were just happy it wasn't hot. The Grand Canyon was cool. We actually hiked up and down it (well, 5 miles down to Indian Gardens) one of the days. It was pretty hard, but we had a good time and we felt like we had accomplished a great feat--neither of us are very outdoorsy so one night camping and then all day hiking was definately a new experience. We were pretty sore for a few days but we were glad we did it. It was just nice to spend some time alone.

In June we went to
Alabama for Bill's family reunion. Although it was very hot and humid, we had a great time. It was just so nice to see Bill's family, especially since we don't see some of them very often. Aliyah had a blast with all of her cousins. She was especially smitten with Kyle (her 10 year old cousin from Alabama). He played so nice with her and she just loved palling around with him. She still talks about him and how she misses and loves him. She was also very excited for Catherine, her cousin just a year older.

We have two more vacations coming up soon...to CA in a few weeks and then to UT in September.

I will post pics of the vacations soon!

I'm glad you had fun here! Thank you for your sweet note that you mailed to us, too. Kyle misses Aliyah too! I think he enjoyed all the attention he got from her. He's never had the experience of being a "big brother", so it was fun to see him with Aliyah!!

We miss you all terribly, but we are glad you were able to stay at our house for a few days. It was fun to see you and your sweet kids.
