At the Beach
After the San Francisco Academy of Science, we took the kids to the beach. The kids loved it--playing in the sand and running in the waves. We could only stay for a little bit, but we are excited for the next time we go to the beach. The only hard part was the long, hot, sandy trek back to the car with kids who didn't want to leave. :)
Our Fun Summer
We had a pretty fun summer. Aliyah had a month of summer preschool, and we had a month of daily swimming lessons. (This summer Aliyah has learned how to swim and can swim about 10-15 feet on her own.)
We went to California in June and Utah in July.
While in California we got to spend a lot of time with family. We got to see my grandma Munns, and my aunt and my baby cousin. We went out to Sacramento and visited Bill’s Angela and her family. We visited with his brother John and their family a few times. We went the Oakland Zoo with Bill’s parents and his sister Natalie and her kids. We went to the Academy of Sciences museum in Golden Gate Park with Bill’s parents. The kids had so much fun playing with cousins and doing all the activities. And we just enjoyed the beautiful weather—so much better than Phoenix.
In between our two vacations, Aftin’s brother, Kyle, and his family came to Phoenix for a few weeks. It was nice to see them and the kids had so much fun playing with more cousins.
In Utah we were able to spend time with Bill’s siblings, Lisa, Brent, and John and their families. We went for Bill’s Aschroft Family Reunion—which included going to Lagoon (a UT amusement park) and a few other get-togethers. It was great to get to see and visit with so much of his family that we don’t see very often. We also stayed with some friends (the Sokols) for a few days, and even got to see some leftover snow up in the canyon.

Garden
My garden did really well, that is until about July. Then all the 110+ days have pretty much wiped most of it out. I harvested a ton of cherry tomatoes and HUMONGOUS zucchinis, alot of lettuce, quite a few cucumbers, some cilantro and green onions, a few bell peppers and one round of green beans. My regular tomato plant didn't do too well this year, I think the cherry plants overran it and took all its sun. I am going to try to get as many cherry tomatoes as I can before the plants totally die out. I am excited to start again in September.
